News: USA to reopen to UK and EU nationals
USA to ease travel restrictions on visitors from UK and EU nations from this November
On Monday 20th September 2021, the US Covid-19 Co-ordinator, Jeff Zients, announced new rules for visitors wishing to fly from other countries into the USA, that eases restrictions for fully-vaccinated individuals to enter the country without the requirement to quarantine upon entry.
The current restrictions which were set in early 2020, bar any foreign national who has been to the UK, most EU countries, India, China and Brazil in the last 14 days.
When does this come into play?
These new rules are expected to come into effect from early November but an official date has yet to be confirmed. Finer details such as whether 12–18-year-olds who have only had a singular jab will be subject to further restrictions are still to be worked out.
Will I need a vaccine passport?
The US Government are also still in the process of deciding which vaccines will be accepted and the proof requird, however it is expected that anyone who has received an FDA-approved vaccine such as the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine not used in the USA, will still be allowed into the country.
